Acute Stroke Imaging Course

The aim of this course is to equip radiologists and stroke clinicians with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to accurately interpret acute stroke CT imaging, with a particular focus on CT angiography (CTA). The course is designed to enhance understanding of acute stroke imaging and its role in supporting clinical treatment decisions.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for general radiologists, radiology trainees, neurologists, stroke physicians, and stroke/neurology trainees. It is also suitable for other clinicians and healthcare professionals with an interest in acute stroke CT imaging.

Course Description

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 

1. Understand the workflow of hyperacute stroke assessment and how imaging guides management. 

2. Identify key findings on non-contrast CT in acute stroke, including haemorrhage, early ischaemia, and dense vessel signs. 

3. Interpret CTA for detection of large vessel occlusion, vascular anatomy, and dissection. 

4. Understand when CT perfusion is indicated and accurately interpret perfusion maps. 

5. Apply imaging criteria for selecting patients for thrombectomy based on current evidence. 

6. Develop practical skills in reviewing acute stroke imaging through interactive case sessions. 

Delegates will be issued with a certificate of attendance and accreditation will be sought from RCP.

Eligibility

Participants should have suitable background knowledge to successfully complete this course. It is designed for postgraduate learners, especially medical doctors and allied healthcare professionals with an interest in CT imaging in hyperacute stroke.
