Two Day Cardiology Conference - ECG/Cardiac Imaging

We are happy to announce that due to the successful running of our Conference last year, we will e running the two day cardiology conference and in 2026.

The conference will focus on ECG Interpretation and Cardiac Imaging. The Course Leads have created a programme that will allow delegates to explore these two key areas in depth. 

As the conference is hybrid, delegates have the option of attending virtually or, as the course is hosted by SGUL, attend face to face onsite. Delegates will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers throughout the day.

Lunch will be provided for those attending on site.

After the conference, delegates will be provided with a certificate of attendance and CPD will be sought from RCP. 

Course Description

Day 1 - ECG Interpretation

The practical ECG course is focused on the ECG interpretation in young individuals (14-35 years) and in athletes. The spectrum of cardiac conditions potentially detected by the ECG in the young is broad with significant differences with the ones affecting older patients.  Cardiovascular-related sudden death is the leading cause of mortality in athletes during sport. Therefore, ECG interpretation is an important skill for anyone involved in the cardiovascular care of young and athletic individuals.

The aim of the course is to equip participants with knowledge regarding the interpretation of the ECG of a young or athletic individual, so they can accurately differentiate findings suggestive of a potentially lethal cardiovascular disorder from normal variants or features of benign physiological adaptation.

Day 2 - Cardiac Imaging

The course comprises of 3 sessions offered over 1 day. Lectures alternate with case-based learning (small groups teaching). The attendees are encouraged to participate in the live lectures The course is highly interactive through Q&A sessions, small groups teaching and case-based learning. 

After this course, participants will be able to: 

1. Recognize imaging features of cardiomyopathies 
2. Differentiate features of athletic adaptation from those suggestive of cardiomyopathy 
3. Plan a diagnostic work-up for individuals with possible cardiomyopathy
